Zamet, Sebastiano
(ca. 1549-1614)
   financier
   of italian origin, sebastiano Zamet was born in Lucca and came to Paris, as a simple rope maker in the entourage of Catherine de' medici. He quickly made a fortune, however, and became one of the richest bankers of the time. He gained the favor of king henry IV and became captain of the château of Fontainebleau and superintendent of the queen's household.
